Ωχ, ν-έχετε γεια, γεια ψηλά βουνά
και σεις κοντές ραχούλες, ραχούλες,
γεια σου Κατσαντώνη μου,
και σεις κοντές ραχούλες, ραχούλες,
γεια σου καπετάνιε μου.
Και σεις Τζουμέρκα κι Άγραφα, παλικαριών λημέρια.
Μην πείτε πως με πιάσανε, με προδοσιά, με δόλο,
αρρωστημένο μ’ ηύρανε, ξαρμάτωτον στο στρώμα.
A famous captain from central Central Greece and the scourge of Ali Pasha, Katsantonis was captured in 1807 when he was stricken by typhus. Taken to Ioánnina where he met a martyr’s death, he became one of Greece’s best loved folk heroes. Miranda Terzopoulou (2007)
