Tον Mάραντον χαρτίν έρθεν να πάει και σην στρατείαν.
Κόφτ’ ασ’ ασήμιν πέταλα κι ασό χρυσάφ’ καρφία,
τον μαύρον ατ’ καλίβωνεν κατάντικρυ σον φέγγον
κι η κάλη ν-ατ’ παρέστεκεν με το μαντήλ’ καρφία.
- Πού πας, πού πας, νε Mάραντε, κι εμέν τίναν αφήνεις;
- Αφήνω σε σον κύρην μου, σον Άεν Kωσταντίνον.
- Πού πας, πού πας, νε Mάραντε, κι εμέν τίναν αφήνεις;
- Αφήνω σε σην μάνα μου, σην Αγίαν Eλένην.
- Πού πας, πού πας, νε Mάραντε, κι εμέν τίναν αφήνεις;
- Αφήνω σε χρυσόν σταυρόν κι αργύρεν δαχτυλίδιν,
πούλτσον και φα το δαχτυλίδ’ και τον σταυρόν προσκύνα.
