Original Lyrics
Aς πα να δουν τα μάτια μου

Notes
Love song from the Peloponnese and Central Greece.
It is a so-called patináda (‘marching tune’) which is sung during the wedding festivities when the parents of the bridal couple walk to the celebration. It is danced by men and wo men in a semi-circle.
The dance goes under the general name of kalamatianós, i.e. origina ting from the town of Kalamáta in the Peloponnese. It was in this town that the musicians first created the dance tune A scarf from Kalamata in 7/8 time. With this 7/8 time as a starting point, songs and dances which have 12 steps and are called kalamatianos have been created all over Greece. For that reason the dance is held to be a kind of national dance for the whole of Greece. The rhythm is the most characteristic of Greek folk music and kalamatianos belong to the syrtós (dragging) dances.
Recording information
The song was recorded in a studio, in 1979.
